This Asteroid Contains DNA

In 2020, OSIRIS-REx touched down on Bennu, a carbon-rich asteroid that could hold clues about the origins of life. Bennu contains organic molecules and water, which may have been key ingredients for life on early Earth. OSIRIS-REx returned to Earth in 2023, and scientists found that Bennu contains the building blocks of life—proteins, RNA, and DNA.
