Early Preparations for Camping

This year’s Scouting camp started with excitement as both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts prepared their essential camping gear—ropes, tarps, and tents. Working in their patrols, the scouts displayed teamwork and cooperation as they pitched their tarp shelters. Some even climbed high spots, like Spiderman, to secure the ropes properly, proving their determination and creativity in solving challenges.

Cozy Tents and New Discoveries

After some time, the scouts successfully built their tents and enjoyed the comfort of their new shelters. With their camps set up, they were introduced to an exciting board game—the Game of the Generals. Resourceful and creative, the scouts crafted game pieces using recycled materials. They patiently studied the rules, learned strategies, and practiced, eager to master this uniquely Filipino invention.

Nutritious Meals and Quick Rest

Once the learning session ended, the scouts fell in line for their delicious and healthy meal—ginisang pechay. After eating, they prepared makeshift beds and took a refreshing power nap, regaining energy for the next round of activities.

Competing in the Game of the Generals

With high morale and renewed energy, the scouts faced off with other patrols in the Game of the Generals. Guided by arbiters, or referees, the matches were intense and thrilling, testing not only their strategies but also their ability to perform under time pressure. This game showed them that Scouting is not only about outdoor activities but also about developing sharp minds and quick decision-making.

A Proud Filipino Invention

The scouts were amazed to learn that the Game of the Generals was invented by Sofronio H. Pasola, Jr., a Filipino whose creation has already gained international recognition. While not as widely popular as chess, it continues to showcase Filipino ingenuity and deserves greater support worldwide.
