The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is one of the largest eagles in the world and is found only in the Philippines. Known as the "King of the Skies," this powerful bird is the national bird of the Philippines and a symbol of strength and freedom.

Why is the Philippine Eagle Special?

The Philippine Eagle is known for its huge size and distinctive crest of feathers on its head. With a wingspan of up to 7 feet, it is one of the most powerful birds of prey in the world. It mainly hunts monkeys, birds, and other animals in the Philippine forests.

Endangered and at Risk

The Philippine Eagle is critically endangered, with fewer than 400 left in the wild. Habitat loss and illegal hunting are the biggest threats to its survival. Efforts are being made to protect the eagle and its home in the forests.

Conservation Efforts

To save the Philippine Eagle, organizations like the Philippine Eagle Foundation are working to protect its habitat and reduce threats like poaching. Conservation programs are crucial to ensure the survival of this iconic bird.
